short treks
Most travelers visit the Himilayas in order to experience some of the wonder of the mountains by trekking through them. The follow itineraries are examples of some of our shorter treks, no more than seven days, which will allow you to settle into the incredible experience.
Brighu Lake Trek – 3 Days/2 Nights
Day 1: Manali-Moridugh (4 hours trekking)
In the morning, we will collect you and take you to Vashist (2050m). Near to the village, we start the trek which makes its way up the mountain through forestland and with a few stream crossings. The journey is mostly uphill but does include some long flat stretches to allow you to catch your breath. In the evening, we will camp overnight at Moridugh.
Day 2: Brighu Lake (8-9 hours trekking)
After breakfast, we start the trek to Brighu Lake (4071m). This is a gradual uphill for three hours to reach the summit and then follows another three hours along the ridge to reach the lake. From here, you can enjoy stunning views of the nearby peaks of Solang, Kullu and Hmata Valleys. After lunch and a break at the top we then head back to spend the night at camp once more.
Day 3: Moridugh-Manali (4 hours trekking)
Having had breakfast, we will start the journey back through forestland and past waterfalls as we gradually descend back into the orchard gardens of Vashist. Here you are welcome to relax in the hot sulphur springs until our jeeps collect you to return you to Manali.
Chanderkhani Pass Trek – 5 Days/4 Nights
Day 1: Naggar - Rumsu - Stelling
Difficulty: Short but quite steep. 2.5 hours trekking.
A short walk takes us to Nagger where we can begin the day visiting Naggar Castle and the Roerich Art Gallery. After this we start the trek climbing above the village with views of the Kullu Valley opening out below us. The village of Rumsu makes a good place to stop for a snack and only a short walk through the forest to the first camp site.

Day 2: Stelling - Chaklani
Difficulty: Easier than you expect for the accent. 3.5 hours trekking.
Watch as the forests change character as we gain height.
Camp above the trees at 3300 metres surrounded by mountain peaks with views of the pass above.
Day 3: Chaklani - Chanderkhani Pass - Nagruni
Difficulty: Gentle traverse. 5.5 hours trekking.
Climb to our highest point, Chanderkhani Pass (3660 metres) where it is possible to see all the way to the mountains of Spiti and Lahual.
Camp in a shepherd's clearing at 3350 metres with views down the Malana Valley.
Day 4: Nagruni - Dadru - Malana Nala - Malana
Difficulty: The walk can be extended or shortened. 6.5 hours trekking.
Continue up the valley passing beautiful waterfalls, small villages and people tending their crops. Follow the river back down to the town of Malana, a strange place which tries to keep itself independent but has an interesting temple.
Camp just above the village at 2650 metres from where you can see most of the valley and back up to the pass.
Day 5: Malana - Everest Dam
Difficulty: Short but a lot of decent. 3 hours trekking.
A short walk down to the river and following it down to the hydroelectric dam where a jeep will meet you. Remember to bring a towel so you can appreciate the hot springs of Manikaran.
Note:
An extra day could be spent visiting the Malana Glacier.
Hamta Pass Trek – 5 Days/4 Nights
Day 1: Manali-Jagatsukh-Saroutu Thach (five hours trekking)
After breakfast, we will drive you the six kilometers to Jagatsukh Village which is home to a wonderful Shiva temple. Our trek then starts with a gentle climb to Banara Village before continuing through forest trails which are abundant with flowers in the summers until we arrive in the meadows of Sarotu Thach where we will camp overnight.
Day 2: Sarotu Thach-Raudi Khodi (6-7 hours trekking)
Today, we traverse across the slopes of Hamta. We will reach the tree line to see impressive views of the Pir Panjal and Brigu Lake Mountains. Then we continue with a gentle climb to the campsite at Raudi Khodi.
Day 3: Raudi Khodi-Balu Ka Gera (5-6 hours trekking)
The first leg of this route is a gentle climb through meadows before following the Nallah River. The rest of our route will include several stream crossings as well as crossing the Hamta River. The last of our journey will be truly above the tree line where you can see the landscape change and enjoy the wonderful views which continue all the way to out camp at Balu Ka Gera, an area around which wild bears roam in the winters.
Day 4: Balu Ka Gera-Hamta Pass-Shira Gorh (6-7 hours trekking)
Having left the campsite, we will begin our ascent to Hamta Pass (4268m). This begins with a short easy trail along a stream before arriving at a lake at the foot of Hamta Pass. From here, another tail takes us upwards and upon reaching the top we will be rewarded with incredible views of Deo Tibba and Indersan. Having enjoyed the views, we cross the pass and enter Lahoul Valley where we have a steep descent to our camp at Shira Gorg.
Day 5: Shira Gorh-Chatru-Manali (5 hours trekking)
After an early start, we start our journey to Chatru. Our route will allow us to follow the beautiful Chandra River and Chatru is surrounded by spectacular mountains. Here our jeeps will collect you to return you to Manali.
Hamta Pass Trek Extension – 7 Days/6 Nights
Day 1: Manali-Jagatsukh-Saroutu Thach (five hours trekking)

After an early start, we start our journey to Chatru. Our route will allow us to follow the beautiful Chandra River and Chatru is surrounded by spectacular mountains. Here our jeeps will be waiting to transfer you to Chandertal where we will camp overnight.
Day 6: Chandertal
Today we will enjoy a rest day by the lake which will allow you to take in the stunning scenery and explore the local area. We will camp overnight once more here.
Day 7: Chandertal-Kunzum-Manali
After breakfast, we will begin our trek to Kunzum. This includes passing through the glacial valley Batal and marvelous views of Barashigri Glacier, White Sail Peak and Lalan Peak. Our journey will finish at the top of Kunzum La Pass (4551m) where our jeeps will be waiting to return you to Manali.
